Detailed programme requirements for Chamber music major

Master’s studies

A one-stage major examination – practical

Supplementary exam – interview – oral exam

Playing in a piano duo

– any Mozart sonata (for one piano for 4 hands or for 2 pianos)
– any romantic or 20th century piece with of no less than 10 minutes (for 4 hands or for two pianos)

*one of the pieces must be originally written for and performed on 2 pianos

Playing in piano trio
(violin, cello and piano, or clarinet, cello and piano)

– 1st movement of a Mozart, Haydn or Beethoven trio
– any movement of a trio composed after 1850 (minimum 10 minutes)

Playing in a string quartet

– 1st movement of a Mozart, Haydn or Beethoven quartet
– any movement of a quartet composed after 1850 (minimum 10 minutes)

Piano accompaniment for playing with string instruments

– 1st movement of a classical concerto
– 1st movement of a romantic sonata
– a piece composed after 1900

Piano accompaniment for playing with wind instruments

– 1st movement of a classical concerto
– a romantic piece
– a piece composed after 1900

Piano accompaniment for playing with vocalists

– three romantic songs
– three songs from the 20th century
