Marek Mleczko – oboe
A soloist, chamber musician, pedagogue, and oboe professor at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków.
He studied in Krakow in the oboe class of Professor Jerzy Kotyczka and in Freiburg in the master class of Professor Heinz Holliger, an oboist and composer.
He won 1st prize at “The Skene Award” International Competition in Aberdeen, 1st prize in the K. Kurpinski National Oboe Competition in Włoszakowice -Pawlowice, was a finalist in the “Nicanor Zabaleta” International Chamber Music Competition in San Sebastian and a finalist in the UFAM International Chamber Music Competition in Paris.
For his musical achievements, he was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit by the President of the Republic of Poland and the title of Professor of Musical Arts.
He has premiered numerous works by contemporary composers, including premiering the Luciano Berio’s Chemins IV in Poland.
For 25 years, he was first oboist in the Capella Cracoviensis chamber orchestra under S. Gałoński. He has collaborated with, among others, the Polish Chamber Orchestra, the Polish Chamber Philharmonic, the Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra “Amadeus”, the Radio Orchestra in Warsaw, and the Sinfonia Varsovia.
As a soloist and chamber musician he has performed many times in Poland and abroad (the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Italy, Scotland, Sweden, the USA).
He is the oboist of the Krakow Stroik Trio and Wind Quintet, an ensemble that has been nominated for the Polish Phonographic Academy’s “Fryderyk” award several times for its recordings.
In 2010, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage awarded him the Bronze Medal for “Merit to Culture Gloria Artis”.
