Aneta Dumanowska – viola

Between 1991-1996, she studied at the Academy of Music in Kraków, in the violin class of professor Mieczysław Szlezer. In 1996, she joined the viola class of professor Janusz Pisarski, and she graduated with distinction in 1999. Her artistic practice includes numerous solo and chamber concerts. As a soloist, she performed with the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Kraków, with the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras of the Music Academy in Kraków, with Sinfonietta Cracovia and Capella Cracoviensis; also, at many festivals, including ‘Music in the Old Kraków’ International Festival, International Festival of Contemporary Music – Kraków Composers’ Days, Pablo Casals Festival in Prades (France) and Opera Rara. Since 2004 she has been the violist of the DAFO quartet. The artistic output of the ensemble includes numerous concerts in Poland and abroad, and its recordings were recognized with awards such as ‘ Fryderyk’ 2009 for the Speechless Song with the music by Paweł Mykietyn, ‘Fryderyk’ 2012 and the Gold Disc status for the CD/DVD live recording of Łukaszewski’s and Bembinow’s Carols and Pastorales, and ‘Supersonic Pizzicato’ Luxembourg award for the album of Krzysztof Penderecki’s String Quartets, String Trio, Clarinet Quartet containing all the chamber music of the composer, with the world premiere recording of the String Quartet No. 3. In 2012-2014 she played in a piano quartet with an outstanding violinist Kaja Danczowska, pianist Justyna Danczowska and cellist Bartosz Koziak, performing in the most important music centres throughout Poland. In the years 1997- 2016 she was a member of the Sinfonietta Cracovia, the Orchestra of the Royal City of Kraków. She collaborated also with the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Capella Cracoviensis, and the Sinfonia Varsovia. Between 2005- 2012 she taught at the International Courses of Music Interpretation in Nowy Sącz. She conducts viola workshops for children, teenagers and students. She is a lecturer at the Academy of Music in Kraków where in 2013 she received her PhD, and in 2018, post-doctoral degree at the Instrumental Music Department.
