dr Maria Wilczek-Krupa
In 2017 she received her PhD diploma in musical arts for her exceptional work on Aesthetics and the function of film music in Wojciech Kilar’s work, written under the guidance of Leszek Polony (PhD Hab.). She is a music theory specialist and a publicist, a nominated teacher, an expert of the Ministry of Education (MEN) regarding the creation of music coursebooks. In 2014 she received a creative scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (MKDN). She is running her own educational facilities, including a primary music school. Her personal interests include: jazz, film music and 19st century piano music, which is the subject of her Masters dissertation. She is an author of various journalistic and research articles, encyclopedic terms, concert programs, reports, interviews, reviews and album descriptions. Since 2015, she has been collaborating with the Krakow Festival Office (KBF) in organising the Film Music Festival in Krakow, and since 2019 she is a part of the jury in KBF’s Soundtrack of the Year Competition. She has written two biographic books, published by Znak: ‘Kilar: a two-faced genius’ (awarded ‘Krakow’s Book of the Month’ in March 2016) and ‘Górecki: genius and obstinacy’ (honoured by the distinction of Józef Mackiewicz Chamber of Literature Award in November, 2019).
