dr hab. Miłosz Mączyński

In 2010, he graduated with honours from the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow in the guitar class of Prof. dr hab. Michał Nagy. In 2014, he obtained the degree of Doctor of Arts at his alma mater. He has been honing his skills by taking part in numerous masterclasses conducted by, among others, Roberto Aussel, Ricardo Gallén, Pablo Garibay, Marcin Dylla, Edin Karamazov, Tilman Hoppstock, and Jan Depreter. As a soloist and chamber musician, Miłosz has won prizes in international competitions in Montreal, Brno, Gorizia, and many others. He has given concerts in Poland, Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, and Slovakia. As a soloist, the guitarist has performed under the direction of, for example, Szymon Morus, Jacek Rogala, Piotr Sułkowski, George Tchitchinadze, performing concertos by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Antoine de Lhoyer, and Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto Andaluz. He has performed world premieres and Polish premieres of works by the following composers Romuald Twardowski, Karol Nepelski, Karol Osman, and Maciej Zimka. Since 2016, the artist has been a member of the Cracow Guitar Quartet, with which he performs as part of significant festivals and concert series. In 2022, the quartet’s album entitled Musical Landscapes (DUX record label) was released. As a chamber musician, he has co-operated with, for example, accordionist and composer Maciej Zimka. In 2022, the album Out of the Circle was released, featuring the premiere recording of the Sonata for accordion and guitar by Maciej Zimka. The recording received a golden diploma in the Musical Eagles competition. Miłosz Mączyński runs a guitar class at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow. Currently, he is employed as an assistant professor. His pupils and students win prizes in international competitions in Austria, Liechtenstein, the Czech Republic, and Poland. He is a jury member of national guitar competitions and of auditions organised by the Centre for Artistic Education; he lectures at workshops and summer music courses.
