Department of Brass invites to the next edition of the International Hornweek – horn masterclass and festival with over 20 years of tradition. After 2015 and 2019 editions, Hornweek is coming back to Kraków! Presence of participants from 14 countries and the variety of music programme inspired the name this edition: Horn in the World.
The festival will take place from 25 to 30 September 2023 in Kraków and Bochnia.
PROGRAMME
We invite all music enthusiasts to instrument exhibitions, recitals, and in particular to the special Final Concert, which will take place on 30th September in Bochnia Salt Mine – UNESCO world heritage site – in the chamber 212 meters under the ground! Information about the concert, tickets etc. in the link.
Recitals will take place on 27th and 28th September at 7:30 pm in the Chamber Hall at ul. św. Tomasza 43:
- on Wednesday 27 September – professors’ recital: Saar Berger (horn), Adalto Soares (horn), Silvia Zambonini Soares (percussion), Olena Pavlova (piano);
- on Thursday 28 September – Hornweek participant’s recital (horns) with pianists: dr Klaudia Strączek (AMKP), Robert Weirauch (University of Music Maastricht) and Olena Pavlova (AMKP).
Additionaly, on Wednesday 27th September at 1:00 pm on the Main Square in Kraków by the Town Hall Tower, all participants will do a flash mob concert!
HORN MASTERCLASSES
Young horn students from universities in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Kraków, coming from all around the world, i.e. Columbia, Brazil, China, Japan, Iran and Ukraine, will participate in masterclasses with prominent professors from several universities from around the world:

LECTURES
Lectures will take place in Chamber Hall by Świętego Tomasza 43 at 6:30 pm. Special lectures will be delivered by prof. Andrew Bain from Colburn School of Music Los Angeles, soloist of Los Angeles Philharmonic, and prof. dr Kazimierz Machala, professor emeritus of the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, University of Georgia and University of Illinois.
