prof. dr hab. Zdzisław Stolarczyk – acting HEAD

Graduated from the Academy of Music in Katowice (1981), in the class of trombone of Prof. Roman Siwek. In 1978 he won the 1st prize at the National Competition for Young Trombone Players in Pabianice. In 1979 he joined the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice as bass trombone player, he cooperates with orchestras such as: the National Philharmonics, Sinfonia Varsovia, Sinfonietta Cracovia. As an orchestral musician he performed in the most renown music halls of the world under the baton of conductors such as: C. Abbado, L. Bernstein, G. Chmura, Sir Ch. Groves, K. Kord, K. Masur, L. Maazel, M.Rostropovich, S. Skrowaczewski, J. Semkow, A. Wit. As a soloist and chamber musician he gives concerts in Poland and abroad (Cuba, Germany, the Czech Republic). Among his most important performances were appearances at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Havana, Warsaw Autumn Festival, Trombone Festival in Warsaw and the International Brass Instruments Competition in Gdańsk. He is frequently invited as member of the jury panel for national and international wind instruments competitions (Gdańsk, Brno, Czerniowce). Consultant of the Centre of Artistic Education and expert of the Ministry of Education and Sport in the field of teachers’ professional promotion. Founder and head of the Polish Trombone Society (2005) as well as member of the International Trombone Association. He is assistant professor at the Academy of Music in Kraków (since 1998) and teaches trombone at the State Music School in Bielsko-Biała (since 1985).
