Trombonist, euphonist, composer. His professional debut took place at the Jazz Pianists Festival in Kalisz in 1982 with the group of Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski. He graduated from the Music Academy in Katowice and the University of Miami in the USA, which he graduated in 1993. At that time, he collaborated with Inter / Outer Continental Jazz Quintet, multi-instrumentalist Ira Sullivan, and performed with artists such as Ray Charles, Tito Puente, Joe Henderson, Jimmy Heath, Michael Brecker, Maria Schneider, Phil Woods, Slide Hampton, Arturo Sandowal, John Fedchock and Red Rodney. From 1995 to 1996 Grzegorz Nagórski was a member of the “Charlie Persip Super Big Band”, with whom he collaborated during his stay in New York. After returning to Poland in 1996, Grzegorz Nagórski continued his artistic activity cooperating with such artists as: Billy Harper, Bob Brookmeyer, Jazz Big-Band Graz, Maria Schneider, Piotr Wojtasik, Adam Pierończyk, Joe Lovano, Billy Cobham, Kirk Lightsey, Michael Philip Mossman, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Chick Corea, Henryk Miśkiewicz, Maciej Sikała, Kuba Stankiewicz, Joakim Milder, Norbotten Big Band, Bobo Stenson, Robert Majewski, Piotr Wyleżoł, Jacob Collier, Aga Zaryan. He took part in recording about fifty albums. In 2007, he founded his quartet, and in 2008 the band’s first album – DEDICATION – was released, Awarded with Fryderyk for 2009 in the category of Jazz Debut of the Year. The artist’s second album OVER & OVER was nominated in three categories for the Fryderyk 2012 Award. In 2017, the artist’s latest author album – THE OPTIMIST was released, It was made with his new electric formation – Grzegorz Nagórski Electric Euphonium Quartet, recorded entirely on euphonium, with which he expanded his instrumentation in 2012. This album received the nomination for the Fryderyk 2017 Award in the Jazz Album of the Year category. All songs on the quartet’s albums are original compositions of Grzegorz Nagórski. From 1996 to 2017 (except 2018), Grzegorz Nagórski was elected the „Best Jazz Trombonist” in the Jazz Top survey by readers of the Jazz Forum magazine. He is also very active as an educator, lecturing at the Jazz and Pop Music Department of the Music Academy in Katowice and at the Jazz Department of the Music Academy in Krakow. He also runs numerous courses and workshops at home and abroad. In 2019, he was awarded the title of Professor of Musical Arts.
