dr hab. Małgorzata Wojciechowska – traverso flute

Wojciechowska Małgorzata
Piotr Nowicki

For many years Małgorzata Wojciechowska has been performing early music on historical flutes. She is considered the first flautist in Poland to develop and propagate the practice of playing on the historical transverse flute. Her passion for music as well as inspiration are both derived from great masters she has had a privilege of work with, such as Antoni Wierzbiński (Music Academy in Łódź), Wilbert Hazelzet, Barthold Kujiken (Royal Conservatoire in the Hague) – as well as the world most renowned musicians whom she has joined on stage, such as Rachel Brown, Mark Caudle, Simon Standage.
She has been performing as a soloist and chamber musician with the leading ensembles in Poland, as well as with Polish and foreign artists, performing baroque and classical music according to historical performance practice. Her longest association is with the group Il Tempo, directed by Agata Sapiecha, with which she has made numerous recordings for Polish Radio, and with which she has appeared as a soloist several times, as part of the EBU Summer Festival, playing flute concerti by J.J. Quantz, A. Vivaldi, W.A. Mozart.
Among her numerous recordings are CD‘s presenting solo flute repertoire: Michel Blavet and Jean-Marie Leclair flute sonatas (CD Accord) and The Circle of Frederick the Great – flute sonatas by Berlin composers (Polish Radio). As a soloist, she also participated in the Fryderyk-awarded project François Couperin Pièces de clavecin – Władysław Kłosiewicz (2014). She has been performing on many prestigious festivals home and abroad, including an appearance during The British Flute Society Seventh International Convention in Manchester (2010).
For many years she has been a part of the Warsaw Chamber Opera orchestra, being involved in many instrumental performances, opera productions and recording projects, i.e. the complete Mozart Piano Concerti.
She has performed in Netherlands, England, France, Germany, Ukraine, Brasil and Japan. She has been invited to conduct masterclasses in the interpretation of early music e.g. International Summer Academy of Early Music in Wilanów, Early Music Forum at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Ventus Optimus in Łódź, Oficina de Musica in Curitiba (Brazil), etc. She was a member of jury during National Solo Flute Competition Il Flauto Ricercato in Łódź.
She is a member of the Concert Spirituel Foundation‘s Board, with which she has been active as both a performing artist and a teacher for over twenty years. Since 1999 she has been conducting the class of traverso at the Kraków Academy of Music.
