dr Aleksander Wnuk
Aleksander Wnuk (b. 1987) multi-percussionist, performer, sound artist and PhD in Arts.
He specializes in performing Contemporary Music, as a soloist and chamber musician. His interests mostly revolve around multi-percussion and intermedia genres. His repertoir covers classical literature and new works. He creates his own sound projects – the most recent is Lupnik. His activity includes free improvisation, composing and performing music for dramatic and dance theatre (e.g. Manhattan), and for film, and also traditional music, free rock, Noise and Ambient. Writings of his have been published in the magazine “Glissando”. Among the most significant achievements is the World Premiere of Sarah Nemtsov’s concerto for solo percussionist, narrator and large orchestra En Face. Currently he is part of Spółdzielnia Muzyczna contemporary ensemble, Krakow Improvisers Orchestra, Wnuk/Lazar duo, Echoes of Peace. As a guest artist he co-operates with Hashtag Ensemble and New Music Orchestra. He was collaborating with Słowacki Theater in Cracow, Rozbark Theater for Dance and Movement in Bytom and Scena Supernova in Cracow. He was a member of Percurama Percussion Ensemble for many years. He obtained education in Denmark, Poland, Austria and Germany. This includes Academy of Music in Gdansk and Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen (reputable class led by Prof. Gert Mortensen, where he also completed prestigious Soloist Class), Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt, impuls Academy in Graz and Ensemble Recherche Akademie in Freiburg. Currently he teaches at the Academy of Music in Cracow.
