dr Stanisław Welanyk
Stanisław Welanyk finished percussion (prof.J.Stojko) and conducting (prof K.Missona) calsses at the Cracow State High Music School. Thereafter attended Master Class at Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy (1982). From 1980 Stanisaw Welanyk is active like orchestra- and chamber musician. From 1984 member of Cracow Percussion Group; with this ensemble gave numerosus concerts in Poland and abroad. His recording of Alejandro Rossi’s Ancestral Rites of a forgotten culture was awarded I Prize of International Composers’ Rostrum 1985 in Paris and was published by Philips. He participated also in many contemporary music festivals like Warsaw Autumn, Melos-Etos Bratislava, Dresdner Tage fuer Zeitgenoessische Musik, Berliner Biennale, Inventionen in Berlin, Musica viva in Munich, Internationella Musikdagar in Jacobstad/Finvland, GAIDA – Festival of Music of Baltic Countries in Vilnius, CONTRASTS – International Contemporary Music Festival in Lviv/Ukraine, NEW MUSIC MARATHON Prague. In 1990 participated as conductor and percussionist in a international TV production Silence and sound recorded under auspices of International Society of Contemporary Music.
He was artistic director of Toruń Chamber Orchestra (1984-1990), Internazionales Kammerorchester Jeunesses Musicales in Buckow (Germany, 1995), International Comtemporary Music Festival MOSAICO (Cracow, 1996), Ancient Music Festival in Stary Sącz (1998-2008).
Paralelly to concert activity S.Welanyk produced numerous recordings for Polish Radio and TV, Nord- and Westdeutsche Rundfunk, Bayerische Rundfunk, and French TV. Since 1981 he is pedagogue of Academy of Music Cracow, leads master classes, take part as member of juries of many concourses for young musicians and also in music theory conferences concernig on contemporary music in Poland and abroad.
